Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is a thriller set in the Indian heartland with Nawazuddin Siddique playing the lead as a lethal gangster. Bengali actress Bidita Bag makes her Bollywood with this one and shares a very passionate chemistry with Nawaz in the movie. Directed by Kushan Nandy, the film is set for an August 25th release.

Once Sholay became a big box office hit there was a race amongst directors to make a daku movie. Now Gangs of Wasseypur does not have the status of Sholay but it is a cult movie now. So there will be some attempts by some directors to make another wasseypur kind of movie.
BB belongs to that category of me too attempts. Sure it has a solid performance from Nawazuddin. It has some epic humour moments. Some very very raunchy and shocking scenes. But the director of BB forgets that GOW used in your face raunchiness to bring the whole brazen attitude of the movie and its story.
Here in BB raunchiness tends to push the story away. This movie is more like what if dada kondke made a gang of wasseypur.
The movie also falls between being a love story of betrayal to a revenge movie to a story of a lost gansgter and it reaches or convinces us on being none of the three above.
In fact Nawazuddin does his usual best to save the movie but this one starts dipping big time after interval. So much that then the cuss words and the physical intimacy scenes all start looking forced. Infact all the major fizz of the movie gets over after the first half an hour. You can actually walk out once first 30 minutes of BB are done.
If only the director could understand a simple fact. We liked Wasseypur because it dared to be different and original it was not a me too attempt.
Avoid.Play carrom at home instead this weekend.
