Verdict - Sidharth Malhotra looks good as an action hero in this otherwise miss-able film!

The big Friday of the year is here. It has been touted as the biggest Friday of the year because as many as 10 films, including Hollywood are hitting the screens today. 'A Gentleman' is the biggest Bollywood release, with direct competition from Nawazuddin Siddique's 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz', Amole Gupte's 'Sniff' and YRF's 'Qaidi Band'.

It goes without saying that I had high expectation from the film. Especially after watching Koffee With Karan episode where Sid and Jacky looked crackling, I had sky high hopes. It was but obvious that the film will probably not be able to match with that.

To begin with the first half will leave you all confused until the last few minutes before the interval! There is the sundar and susheel Gaurav and the risky Rishi! While Gaurav is trying to get Kavya's (played by Jacqueline Fernandez) attention, and love, Rishi is trying to carry on with his heists and do the jobs for Colonel (played by Sunil Shetty). The pace is set by the end of the confusing first half and the second half proves to be better!

The second half has good action sequences too, much like the first part. But the second half tries to explore the romance between the leads that fall flat on the face. With a steamy scene in between, that looks quite out of the blue, I was hugely disappointed by the boring Sid-Jacky chemistry!

Sidharth Malhotra looked good in this film. He suits the action hero category and looked absolutely believable during all the stunts. He does action better than he does outright dramatic and emotional roles! But once again Jacqueline Fernandez was disappointing, not because of how she acted but because how she had nothing to her character Kavya. She was just the chirpy, fun loving and sexy girl who was out there to be an eye candy. The character was as flat as it could be and there was nothing Jacky could do to make it better. So was the case for Sunil Shetty, who made a comeback with this film. His villainy lacked intent and gravity and his accent was annoying at times! Rest of the supporting actors did a fantastic job.

The music of the film could have been more impactful and there were no memorable dialogues except for a 'jhand hai meri life'. While these could have been so much better, the cinematography was great. It captured the chase sequences in the clogged up bylanes of Bombay with perfection, as it did in the sprawling Miami!

The film had everything in it- action, romance, a lil bit of drama, dance, comic moments and foreign locations. But the mixture could have been way smoother. The film is a strict one time watch and you would like it if you enjoy the out and out masala commercial Bollywood films.
