Verdict - A distractingly handsome Sidharth and a brilliant Manoj Bajpayee fail to save this film with the most disappointing climax.

Neeraj Pandey has time and again proved himself to be a film maker with a different vision. He had created waves with his debut film, A Wednesday. It was taut and not even for once missed to leave us in awe and suspense. It followed it up with Special 26 and Baby, both of which shone, despite a few flaws here and there. Then came M.S Dhoni that, despite being criticized for being a patronizing film, was an entertaining watch. Needless to say, a film that will have Pandey for screenplay, story and direction is expected to be top-notch. But Aiyaary falls flat on the face and is a major disappointment.

For starters, the story is about a Major Jai Bakshi (Sidharth Malhotra), who is in a special cover op (just like Baby) who has gone rogue and is all set to leak the information about their secret team. He is ready for this compromise for a reason and Cl. Abhay Singh (Manoj Bajpayee) would have to find him nd stop him. He is Jai's idol, who he loves dearly and follows, so he warns him that he has come across something and wants the entire team to leave.

Now I had a few problems. Throughout the film, I have no clue where Cl. Abhay Singh is supposed to go. Then again, what is the information that Jai has stumbled upon. I mean he cannot be so naive as he has been shown in the film, isn't it? And where was the climax and what was it all about is what I am still trying to figure in my head!

The film has so many loose ends that it will make many lose their patience. In fact, the entire first half was characterized by a sluggish pace. A few minutes before the interval did make us a little hopeful and excited, but the second half was just as disappointing as the first!

Coming to the female characters, I have no idea what they had been doing in the film. Both Maya and Sonia are just there for the sake of it and they have nothing very important to play. The film is also a waste of other good actors. While Manoj Bajpayee is the reason why you would want to watch the film, the acting prowess of Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher and Adil Hussain are simply wasted!

The story, especially the climax is so bad that you might question that it is a Neeraj Pandey film. In fact, there has been a faint feeling that that maybe parts of the film has been cut r changed after the review by the Defense Ministry.

The only song that we heard was totally unnecessary and the chemistry too was boring. Sidharth Malhotra needs to work a little more on his expressions. He was distractingly handsome, not in a very good way. The only saving grace was Manoj Bajpayee.

You can watch the film if you have absolutely nothing to do this weekend. Or you can easily give this one a miss!
