The Fast and the Furious family have come a long way. And by now we should know that they don’t get themselves chauffeured around. They give their rides a good run for its money. With Tokyo Drift being my personal favourite rite, all the movies have culminated many years of heartfelt pleasure and never once disappointed. This time Don’t Break a Sweat reading this you’ve got to go watch it!

Quite frankly speaking, you don’t have to sit up late taking pointers on the last eight movies. To sit through this one, all you need to know is that a cop (Dwayne Johnson as Hobbs) and a villain (Jason Statham as Shaw) joins forces to protect the world from a contagious virus called Snowflake. And the bad guy behind this hot mess is a man who calls himself the Black Superman (Idris Elba as Brixton). He surfs around Britain in a cyborg suit turning officers of the law into desperados in public. Yes, the plot seems too Sci-fi for the series but works. We see Hobbs and Shaw leading their separate lives until they are called to work together for the CIA. While both fume at the sight of each other they splendidly coexist to clear their names and save Shaw’s sister (Vanessa Kirby as Hattie Shaw) from Black Superman.

Hattie Shaw AKA Shaw’s little sister is an avid spy for MI6. The Shaw siblings grew up robbing banks and embarking on conquests that ignited their rivalry. An infatuating memory lane worth the visit. Fast forward to present day, in order to retrieve the virus from Black Superman, Hattie injects it into her system and escapes. Our super villain uses his powers to frame Hattie of stealing the snowflake and hunts her down. While Hattie is on the run, Hobbs tracks her down and brings her to the CIA where the three start their altruistic endeavour to save the world. This follows a customary car race down the roads of Britain that got me to the edge of my seat.

With the clock still ticking, the trio visits the scientist who created snowflake which leads them to Ukraine after a short haul in Moscow for ammunition. The team manages to capture the machine in order to eradicate the virus but it hardly survives their escape from Brixton. With the broken machine and the demise of its maker, Hattie finds herself in quite the predicament. As the situation escalates, Hobbs takes them to his long lost family in Samoa where he reunites with his mother and fixes the machine with the help of his brother Jonah. The Virus is successfully extracted from Hattie as Shaw, Hobbs and his brothers fight Brixton and destroys him.

Director David Leitch of Deadpool fame displays his trademark Slapstick comedy at so much ease in this one. Vanessa Kirby, Dwayne Johnson & Jason Statham were irrevocably great at effortlessly working their way through the action set pieces throwing in a few punches and punchlines at each other. Idris Elba as Black Superman permeates a techno vibe like the iron man but doesn’t quite fit the theme. A big shout out to the stunt choreographers and racers who’ve made ‘Fast and the Furious: Hobbs and Shaw’ such a feast for the eyes.

To a great extend I can agree that this isn’t another pointless action film to yawn away through. Listing all the best moments on my fingers would be a bummer. Well, it’s got sass, a whole lot of adrenaline rush and the perfect potion to keep you glued to your seats: Fast cars and skilful hands behind the wheels.
