Paddington Bear is definitely going to make you dash in to a toyshop immediately after watching the movie to go and buy yourself a cuddly teddy bear. It has that fuzzy wuzzy feeling about it without being cloying.

Paddington Bear has to leave his native Peru after a devastating storm and he come to London to seek a home, hopefully with the explorer who had researched his species. He gets taken in by a family who gradually come to love him and try to help him find the explorer who is missing. There is a mean director of the National History Museum who want to stuff him and display him as a specimen so that she can win accoldaes. Will Paddinton find the home he wants with a loving family or be a stuffed animal in a Museum?

The movie sets up a clipping pace but is also laid back in its old world charm. It is set in modern London but the Geographical society is charmingly old fashioned, as are the people in the movie. Paddington looks amazingly real and has the most expressive eyes I have seen in a long time. You just have to reach out and hug him. There are a couple of tense moments and some very clever jokes which adults accompanying the young ones will enjoy too.

Paddington Bear makes a perfect weekend watch for the young definitely but if you are looking for a dose of feel goodness for yourself then you would do well to see this one.
