    Verdict - Engaging, Fast-Paced & Fun!

    ChronicleWatch trailerRelease date : February 03, 2012

Three boys enter a cave and find a glowing extraterrestrial rock. Nope, this isnt the start of some joke but rather the beginning of the engaging plot of Chronicle. A blast knocks them out and when they wake up they posses superhuman powers of telekinesis. As the proverb goes that power corrupts, soon enough the youngest of the lot finds that strength and his newly acquired powers are solutions to his abuse at the hands of his father and other people. The other two dont agree and they have to now stop one of their own who actually might be the most powerful of the lot.

The hand-held, shaky camera effect is used smartly though in all honesty with a script this good, it wasnt required and at times feels like a gimmick. The moral degradation of the youngest member, Andrew (Dane DeHann) is nicely presented and though you feel happy for him when he dishes his father some of his own medicine, you also can see the how the boys gone over to the dark side. The other two boys on the other hand feel kind of underdeveloped.

The scenes of wanton destruction contain some beautiful effects and despite the shaky camera are presented in all their glory. This is by no means a cheap movie with enough emphasis on ensuring the scale isnt compromised on in any manner.

The fast pacing and playful script which effortlessly turns gears by going dark, keep the movie interesting throughout. If only the gimmicky hand-held camera had been toned down and equal importance been given to all the characters then this would have been one hell of an effort.
