Show, Dont Tell is a term used in almost every screenwriting book and as I watched Maximus (a horse) & Pascal (a chameleon) I thought these two characters were good examples to understand screenwriting. Without uttering a word they entertain you the most.

Tangled is the tale of Rapunzel (the girl with the really long hair) who gets kidnapped as a child and is kept in a tower until a bandit lands up there. What happens next is what the film is about. As a story it is not exciting at all and the title of this film doesnt have the buzz required to make you venture out to the theatre but the film is delight & is laugh out loud funny. It will make you happy when you walk out of the theatre. Writer Don Fogelman (Bolt, Cars) creates enough conflict & set pieces to keep your attention, spicing it up with some really funny lines but by creating the characters, Max & Pascal he adds another dimension to the whole film. Nathan Greno makes his debut as a director along with Byron Howard who made Bolt. Together they add a fantastic spin to this tale. Most of the fun lies in the subtle moments within the scenes. The expressions & the reactions are worth another viewing. The only thing I thought was a little out of place sometimes were the songs that mar the narrative at times. It somehow doesnt fit in well even though Alan Menkins (Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast) songs are quite entertaining on its own. If it was left to me I would have called the film Max & Pascal and made it purely from their point of view. They deserve a film of their own.

Final few words: Keeping the musical tradition of the old and bringing the humor & technical marvel of the new this is one Tangible ride to the movies.
