Indian Tourism Ministry announces two awards for Life of Pi

To show its gratitude to Hollywood director Ang Lee, who promoted the Indian state of Kerala as a tourism destination in his recent releaseLife of Pi, theUnionTourism Ministry has given two awards to the highly-appreciated film. Ang shot the whole first half of the film at beautiful locales inPuducherry and Munnar.UnionTourism MinisterK.Chiranjeevi announced the awards on Saturday expressing hope that this will go a long way in encouraging film producers from abroad toshoot films in India.

Every year, the ministry recognises various stakeholders, including film makers and writers for their contribution in promoting India tourism by conferring the national tourism awards as the ministry has identified 'film tourism' as a niche tourism product.
