From our lifestyle to fashion choices, for a true Bollywood fan films influence an immense variety of important aspects of our life. But the list, without fail, starts with the romance or relationship. With an uncountable number of love stories that Bollywood has come up with over the years and the number of iconic on-screen couples and relationships it has presented us with, it is weird that the expert on relationships, Bollywood, is so far removed from what issuesplague the world of real-life relationships. Thus in the rose-tinted world of Bollywood’s idea of romance, these are some of the problems that couples in Bollywood never face. Needless to say, in real life, these are some of the most common problems that every couple faces in today’s world.Sexual IncompatibilityThis is the biggest example of Bollywood still skimming on some of the most valid problems in relationships. Sexual incompatibility is as real as daylight and there is no dearth of relationship that has crumbled owing to this problem. But in the realms of Bollywood, this issue ceases to exist altogether. Either there is no sex involved and even if it is there, it is always good. And no, don’t you go reminding me ofShubh Mangal Savadhaan, that was an entirely different problem altogether!High ISD Rates and Internet IssuesThis is especially true for long-distance relationships. As it is,long distance relationshipsare fairly underexplored in Bollywood so the problems related to it never is explored in Bollywood. The phenomenon is strange because these days a large chunk of couples maintain a long distance relationship and boy the struggle is real. Any couple who has ever been in a long distance relationship can tell you that phone calls, especially ISD rates and slow internet are the biggest deterrent to relationships. Romance soon fades away when just the mere act of communicating burns a major hole in your pocket.Never Running Short On Date IdeasThis is a personal bone of contention! Firstly can we all agree thatperfect date ideasare not that easy to come up with? Even if we do come up with one, our ambitions and creativity rarely is in tandem with our affordability and even if we cross that hurdle IT IS NOT EASY to execute them perfectly. But in Bollywood it doesn’t matter if you want to shower rose petals from a helicopter or light a thousand candle at a public park to propose to your lady love, everything goes on without a hitch. Just how!Phone PhenomenaThis one is a typical millennial issue but nobody can claim that it is not rampant. From partner continuously engaged with his/her phone to differences on sharing or not sharing passwords, this might sound silly, but thephonehas been a major issue of discontent in many couples given the importance we attach to it in our daily lives. However, even the biggest Bollywood fan cannot claim to remember even few instances where the same happened in a film!Being On The Same PageTo be honest, we won’t say that Bollywood has never come up with this issue, especially in‘coming of age’ films, but we still think as an aspect of relationship this is fairly unchartered territories for Bollywood. Yes, we have films on commitment phobia and other such issues, but in the end, the partners always find a common ground which mostly in favor ‘janam janam ka saath hai humara tumhara’. Guess what, that’s not how things turn out in real life.

She is the bonafide international superstar and enigma to all of us. The more we know about Priyanka Chopra, the more we want to know. Though we know the entire journey of hers from Miss World to Quantico, if there is one aspect of her life that is shrouded in mystery, it is her personal life. In a recent interview given to a leading Indian film magazine, Priyanka got candid about her love life, without taking any names of course. But we all know the names that she might be referring to. Here are 6 men that Priyanka Chopra allegedly dated.Aseem MerchantShe allegedly dated Aseem Merchant during her initial modeling days. She allegedly dumped him after her big Bollywood debut. If Priyanka’s ex-manager Prakash Jaju is to be believed, then it was a rather stormy affair and Priyanka even tried to commit suicide once due to her frequent fights with Aseem.Harman BawejaWhen producer Harry Baweja’s son Harman Baweja was about to make his debut with Love story 2050, the rumors of Harman dating Priyanka was rife. It is reported that the two dated each other for 5 years but started drifting apart after the failure of their films.Shahid KapoorThis was the gossip that gave Bollywood gossip mongers a field’s day. When IT department showed up at Priyanka’s house early in the morning, the door was answered by none other than Shahid Kapoor, allegedly in boxers. The world of Bollywood exploded with the news as nobody had any clue about the two dating. Though they never cleared the air about their relationship, years later in an interview, Shahid almost confirmed dating PriyankaAkshay KumarAkshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra have given many hits together at one point in time. The audience loved their on-screen chemistry and soon the rumors of their affair started flying around. However, everything came to a screeching halt when Akshay’s wife Twinkle barred him from working with Priyanka again.Shah Rukh KhanThis was one of the most shocking ones as Shah Rukh has always had the reputation of being a committed husband to Gauri Khan. However, if rumors are anything to go by, then Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan were in a very serious affair. But, like Twinkle, Gauri entered the picture and since then Shah Rukh has not worked with Priyanka again. Although the affair was never confirmed by either of the two, Priyanka on several occasion has talked about an ex that she ‘looks up to’ and many feel that it is none other than Shah Rukh that she is talking about.Tom HiddlestonAt Emmy's after party, it was reported that Tom Hiddleston was seen openly flirting with Priyanka Chopra. They were seen holding hands and generally cozying up in between taking cute selfies. They also exchanged numbers at the end of the night said some sources. Though the rumor soon died down soon enough, it still took the gossip world by storm. Especially, now after her admission that she dated somebody in America, the Tom Hiddleston rumors will probably be rife again.

Why is getting drenched with your lover, hair and dupattas flowing in the air, getting your saree stuck in the bracelet or seeing somebody for the first time and falling in love considered romantic? Because Bollywood said so. If Bollywood can be credited for one thing, it is for teaching a country the art and expression of the complex human emotion called love or more specifically romance.Trends have come and gone in Bollywood, but love stories have always been the integral and indispensable underlying narrative.Coming to present scenario, one cannot disagree that recent trend in Bollywood is to go ‘socially relevant’. It is often pretty empowering to see Bollywood coming up with stories that are about small or big socially relevant issues such as child abuse, drug abuse, sanitation or even erectile dysfunction. However, even though Bollywood has gone more socially relevant it has not let go of its strongest suit and no matter what the theme is, there is an always an underlying and unmistakable love story that is integrated into the narrative of the film. But even with Bollywood’s eternal love saga with romance and the recent affair with socially relevant films, it is surprising how both these sensibilities have not come together in making socially relevant love stories. Not to say that Bollywood is not making films on modern relationships, but apart from some instances, most of the stories are actually old medicine in the new bottle. From parents and society being the roadblock now it the millennial problems like commitment phobia and an urge to find one’s self that keeps two lovers from uniting. But there are many facets of modern relationships that remain considerably unexplored. For example, it is difficult to find a film in Bollywood that talks about something as common as long distance relationships which are a reality for an ever-increasing number of couples in the country. Live-in relationships, again which is now more common than ever, is rarely a part of a mainstream film and are reserved for niche films. Even the films such as Shudh Desi Romance that do manage to touch upon it usually shows it in a very dysfunctional light. When it comes to modern relationships Bollywood is yet to find and explore the sweet spot (where most modern relationships actually pan out) between eternal love sagas and royal millennial romantic mess.Coming to social relevance, as an avid movie goer, I would love to see Bollywood’s new found sensibilities being translated into romance being more socially inclusive. Yes, we managed to come up with a Margarita with a Straw which was truly a commendable effort, but where are other movies that explore these unchartered territories? With so much dialogue going on about sexual identity, it is high time Bollywood makes a movie about how romance in transgender world pans out.Role reversal is another thing we need to see more. Not to say that Bollywood is not experimenting with gender-bending roles and coming up with more and more woman-centric movies, but there is always room for more. For decades, the boy wooing the girl has formed the crux of most legendary romances, but how about a mainstream Bollywood film that has agirl wooing the guyfor a change and not being portrayed in psychotic, abnormal or at the very least an intense light. Maybe it is time we come with a light-hearted romantic story about a girl wooing and pursuing a guy and keep it sweet without making it sexist of courseFor an industry that has thrived on romance for so long, Bollywood’s idea of romance is slowly starting to look somewhat confined. Our screens have increased in number, our market is global, our special effects and filming techniques are at par with that of Hollywood and sometimes even better, but there is perhaps an urgent need to update our understanding about that one thing that has been the greatest strength of Bollywood ever-the big fat Bollywood romantic sagas.

The stereotypes about marriage in the society are never enough, especially in our country. But we only come to face them each time two people set out to challenge the existing norms. One such marriage stereotype that we have not been able to get over as a society yet is the age factor. While we come from a history of older men marrying girls old enough to be their daughters or even granddaughters, but the idea of an older woman marrying a younger man certainly sets the alarms ringing in the society.Wondering why we're suddenly throwing light on this stereotype? Well, very recently Sony TV's popular show, Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya showcased a situation wherein a 21-year-old Ratan voluntarily walks up to a 30-year-old Diya and decides to marry her. It was then that it crossed our mind - what if such a wedding took place in reality? Right from looking down at the woman as immoral and the guy as desperate, there are many other things that couples have to hear from the society. So because 'log kya kaheinge’ is one of the biggest factors to consider in Indian marriages, here’s what a couple where the woman is older typically have to hear. When he was born she was already in middle school!Isn’t she old enough to be his aunt?We sure know who’s calling shots at home! And it won't be HIM!!Won’t she be just seconds away from menopause when they plan their family ahead?Marrying a 30-year-old at 21? ROFL! Wait, does she even understand what ROFL means??Isn’t she from the generation that sends sanskari Good Morning messages on Whatsapp? How desperate is he to marry a woman that old? She’s sure gonna have a thousand problems adjusting with the family! She must surely have manipulated him into marrying her.Well if we actually put aside the notions of the society, can't two consenting adults choose to tie the knot with whoever they wish to? There is absolutely no reason why their decision should be looked down upon or not be accepted.Diya and Ratan are at similar crossroads in their lives as they get married in unlikely situations. Needless to say, they'll be under immense pressure from the society but let's hope that the show helps break the stereotypes by nurturing their relationship in the right way.

Hina Khan, the first runner-up of Big Boss Season 11 is glad her relationship status with Rocky Jaiswal is no more a secret, but says wedding bells are far away. While in the Bigg Boss house, Hina’s relationship with Jaiswal became a talked about affair. Now that she is out of the ‘house’, asked if fans will hear news of her wedding anytime soon, Hina said, “Not at all. We have a long way to go. We just want to enjoy ourselves, but I am glad that it’s finally out in public.”What are the things she regrets doing or saying while in the house? Hina, who lost the finale to Shilpa Shinde, said: “Nothing... I don’t regret anything. There are many things that we said but then we also took care of it while in the house with the same people. Even if we did say anything to each other, we said sorry to each other the next morning. I don’t think any contestant in the house has any regrets about anything.”She said all contestants of the show will in fact be going for a trip together to relax and enjoy after the hectic weeks of Bigg Boss. “I like to tell everyone that we are going on a trip, all of us, but we won’t be disclosing the destination. I had decided some time ago that we have fought a lot in the house, we have said things to each other, but when we leave the house we will forget about all of that and go on a trip.”Hina was involved in a lot of fights during her stint in the reality show. Defending it, Hina said, “What you see is only 45 minutes of what happens all day. At times all you hear is part of a conversation. At times things are said by someone else that you don’t know about or how the conversation started. There are many things that were said in a different sense and interpreted in a different sense.”
