The world is celebrating the 49^th Earth Day today to raise awareness about the environmental crisis around us and several Bollywood celebs ensured they did their bit by encouraging their followers to preserve the beautiful world we live in. The theme of this year is 'Protect Our Species' and everyone from, Anushka Sharma, Arjun Kapoor, Juhi Chawla to Sidharth Malhotra sent out powerful messages through their social media handles to help protect the environment.

Both on Instagram and Twitter, stars shared their pictures and messages about marking the celebrations of this significant day and have certainly inspired their fans to do the same. Check out what they have to say:

Today is World Earth Day! Last year I decided to start growing at least some of the food I ate... in case some of you’re wondering how to maintain plants in an apartment, it’s totally doable. Get soil, learn basics of gardening (like you’ll see me snipping away at dead and dry branches on the 🍅 plant), you can now order organic manure online, don’t put chemicals in your plants... An election is around the corner, we in India, seem to have very poor leadership and fewer options to choose from too. This isn’t about politics, it’s about each of us doing our best! I am so inspired by the lawyer Afroz Shah because he started the movement to clean the beach... let the change begin at our homes and in our hearts... let’s be kind to this generous, loving Mother Earth 🌍 who only provides ... love all species!
