Every time Shah Rukh Khan says something, the world eagerly hears. Whether you are a fan or not, you just cannot get over the wit and intellect in the words that he utters. The scene had been no different last night when Shah Rukh Khan took everyone by surprise with his appearance on the first edition of Critics Choice Film Awards. Shah Rukh Khan took over the stage and spoke his heart out, not missing his trademark wit and humour. He talked about his craft and why he would always aspire to be a superstar. But what was best about his speech was how he roasted critics and his friends, Anupama Chopra and Rajeev Masand at the very onset, without even being offensive.
Shah Rukh revealed that he had been travelling to China, which is probably related to the release of his film Zero there, and that he has been immensely jet lagged. But he still managed to pen down his feelings and prepared a three and a half minute speech, which he intended to read to the audience present.
He starts by saying that he has tried to write it in the way in which critics have been speaking. He talks about Anupama Chopra and then moves on to talk about Rajeev Masand who he says has been into the business since the time he played an anti-hero. While he names just the two of the critics who the nation looks upto and who are also SRK’s friends, he moves on to take a jibe at critics overall.
Anupama Chora shared a part of the speech here, where he roasts her:
