Well, the director's intention and modus operandi is pretty much justified maybe. Making a wannabe horror splashed with doses of slapstick comedy, thereby trying to tie down the audience for some 2 odd hours. It has indeed been fetching some good amount of audience off late.
So where did the director go wrong exactly?
Well, I'd like to rephrase the question in this way..
So where did the director get them right exactly?
Nowhere did he get em right, to be honest.
A talented artist like Aishwarya Rajesh is wasted like hell. You're thrown upon some 30 odd minutes of love track (as they call) which was as shambolic as it could get.
And then the things only got worse as the ghost was brought into action.
Neither the cast nor the crew had any mercy on the audience to be frank. VTV Ganesh, Vaibhav everyone were at their horrible best. Editing was terrible. Screenplay was bonkers. Music was cacophonic.
At the end of the movie, just one thing was lingering in my mind. Why do even filmmakers get distraught like this? won't the cast and crew know that they're making a movie which makes no sense at any level whatsoever?!
Well, I really don't know.

Hello Naan Pei Pesren joins the long list of horror comedies in Tamil cinema. Generally, these horror comedies will have right mix of thrill and fun elements but debut director Baskar has made this one as laugh riot targetting audiences in 'B' and 'C' centers.

A critic should not say audiences to forget logic and uniqueness but sometimes there are films which are mere guilt pleasure and Hello Naan Pei Pesren is one such film. If you start believing that you haven't seen any world class films and you are in theater just for few laughs, then Hello Naan Pei Pesren might definitely entertain you with bunch of comedians including VTV Ganesh, Yogi Babu and Singam Puli.

A good thing for few intellectuals is that unlike Sundar C's horror comedy, here there is no glamour sequences, where the camera zooms in uncanny angles ( well, you know what I meant to say here) to increase the glam quotient.

So, yes Hello Naan Pei Pesren is the kind of horror comedy that kids would enjoy and few grownups, who still behaves like one. less

Hello Naan Pei Pesuren's promo videos promised a novel premise of a ghost hiding in a mobile and seeking revenge. However, when you watch the film, you will realize it's not as inventive as the initial promos seemed to be. The film revolves around a done and dusted template of a horror film, interspersed with humor throughout the screenplay with a handful of laughter-producing supporting actors like VTV Ganesh and Yogi Babu, who is not utilized properly.

The romance between Vaibhav and Aishwarya Rajesh is easily one of the most cliched and boring love sequences ever. The only surprise factor and take away in that particular sequence is the absolutely tripping Silakki Dumma song composed by Siddharth Vipin. Both Aishwaryaa and Vaibhav liberate themselves and get off the ground in full-fledged kuthu mdoe for the song, which erupts audiences easily.

Director Baskar has tried to imitate the copy-paste filmmaking of Sundar C, who has actually bankrolled this movie. For most of the time, scenes are intercut with popular hit songs from memorable films to bring smiles on the faces of audiences.

Had Bhaskar concentrated more on the screenplay and taken some effort to create genuinely funny comical situations, HNPP would have been a much better film. less
