Sajid Khans Housefull though intended by the director as an ode to the formula-masala movies of yesteryear filmmakers like Praksh Mehra & Manmohan Desai is more of a poor cinematic photocopy of no less than half a dozen Hollywood movies ranging from The Heartbreak Kid to The Cooler.

Aarushs (Akshay Kumar) luck is so bad that his touch can turn gold into garbage. After he gets dumped by his longtime girlfriend, he decides to crash at his friend, Bobs (Ritesh Deshmukh) place till he can sort out his life. Things take a turn for the better & he marries a rich heiress, Devika (Jiah Khan) but with his luck she too leaves him the very next day. Heartbroken & on the verge of a successful suicide hes rescued by Sandy (Deepika Padukone), whom he promptly falls in love with. Just when the audience might be fooled into thinking their ordeal is coming to an end, enter Bobs estranged father-in-law (Boman Irani) & Sandys overzealous brother (Arjun Rampal). From here on mayhem ensues thanks to the ancient as the Harappa civilization Bollywood formula of mistaken identities. So will everything work out fine in the end? With idiots like this, who cares?

The haywire plot has no direction; it only acts as padding for the movie to movie from one lame comic setup to another. The first half was so rife with juvenile humor that it makes the barely tolerable second half seem like heaven. Homophobic humor & political incorrectness run riot throughout & dont even get me started on the gaseous climax assured to make you nauseous; seriously the Queen of England yelling Jai Maharashtra! wouldnt bring a smile on anyones face except perhaps some regional parties.

Utterly forgettable songs, actors hamming it up more than an all you can eat buffet, a clueless plot, recycled jokes & far too long running length make this movie an excellent cure for the will to live.
