The biggest strength of this movie based on the Kedarnath floods are its beautiful & captivating locations of the hilly regions as the portrayal of simplistic life amidst the favourite tourist destinations of North India is full of visual that show the snow-covered mountains, crystal clear water of the river streams, & eye-pleasing lush greenery. These visual are bound to impact a deeply relaxing feeling to the stressed out audience of the developed metropolitan cities.
Further, the soothing background music given by flute & the soulful songs like Namo Namo, Qaafirana, & Sweetheart also complement the magical scenery and organic nature of the people of Kedarnath. To envelope the minds of the audience for witnessing the havoc & wrath caused by Kedarnath floods in 2015, the makers use the tried and tested formula of showing an innocent love story between Sra & Sushant. Now, this is not a bad idea as the love story among the hills concept imparts a fantasy element to the movie, which has been a long lost trend in Bollywood, and thus, this works in the favour of the movie.

Also, the conflict between the progressive & regressive ideologies & the barricades caused in love due to the strongly prevalent caste system also add realism to the movie. But, the main problem is the under-utilization of the male lead of the movie –Sushant Singh Rajput A.K.A M.S Dhoni, who is one of the most bright & competent actors amongst the young crop of Bollywood, as has been given very little material on his plate to leave any kind of impact on the audience. On the other hand, the highly educated Sara Ali Khan makes a confident & promising debut on-screen, has a decent screen presence, and an instant likeability as well.
Although the movie is decently paced throughout its short duration of two hours and holds the attention of audience, but in the end it fails to leave a lasting impression on the minds of the viewers. This can be attributes to the average direction of the director Abhishekh Kapoor of the Rock On & Kai Po Che fame as the movie in the end seems to be one dimensional as it does not have even a single sub-plot. Clearly, most of the focus & budget have given to enhance the VFX quality for showcasing the flood scenes. Thankfully, the VFX quality is good, but the trajectory of the plot is strikingly similar to that of Titanic and that leaves us a bit disappointed.

Overall, the movie is a one-time watch owing to its novel concept & superb picturization of beautiful locations, but it had the potential to become a superhit movie!!
