“If Armaan Jain could emote as well as his eyebrows, what started off as a fresh film, would not have turned into a lengthy bore. The script falls apart in the second half to a point where even Rahman's awesome soundtrack can't salvage it. One time watch.”

There are always great expectations from a new director to bring in something different and refreshing, especially if you are the brother of the innovative Imtiaz Ali. But Arif Ali, the debutant director fails to make an impact with his romantic comedy majorly because of its cliched storyline and poor acting by the newbie Armaan Jain (the grandson of Raj Kapoor).

Dino (Armaan Jain) and Karishma (Deeksha Seth) , the two best friends realise they are perfect for each other when latter's parents force her to get married. So, they elope and get married but what awaits them is the course of love, conflicts and hatred.

The story lacks detailing and never really builds up. Also, the transitions are really pathetic as at many moments, one cannot digest what the hell is happening. It contains a lot of PJs and cheesy lines like "Son of 'Beach'", "Hum credit card 'expect' karte hain, etc. The first half is unbearable and the film could do better without it. However, if you survive through it, the second one is watchable.

The movie has an immense scope for editing as it is far too stretched. Dino's brother's love angle was really unnecessary and not at all interesting. The songs are present in abundance, they come, distract, waste time, and go away, and then come again and again. Although 'Khalifa Khalifa' is rocking the charts and 'Alaahada' appeal to the souls, the rest of the songs do not seem to be of the AR Rahman brand.

The mention of the issue of naxalites made my eye-balls rolling and I started looking out for something interesting to happen to the story. But the nation's most sensitive issue was handled very insensitively by the director making it a complete joke. At a place, where you don't have a toilet to pee, you just can't go about doing "Mawaali Qawwali"- absolutely ridiculous.

Talking about the performances, Armaan was pretty immature and annoying. His over the top acting was far from being natural. He certainly needs to work really hard if he wants to continue the Kapoor legacy. Deeksha was not the best either, but showed a lot of promise and potential. Kumud Mishra, who played the father of Dino did very well and yet again proved his versatility after performing an entirely different character in Filmistaan. Sudeep Sahir (Dino's brother), Anita Kulkarni (Dino's mother), Rohini Hattangadi (The Judge) were satisfactory.

Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, Definitely not worth the bill!
