SPMJ is about 4 young boys who get caught up as suspects at the Delhi international airport for capturing an American Airlines aircraft landing on their camera, which they claim to have shot for a documentary that they are making. The story that follows depicts how their every action lead them to further obstacles.

“A terribly written script, poor performances and boring presentation form a small part of the lengthy list of flaws that Shakal Pe Mat Ja comes with. A must skip for everyone!”

Every once in a while there comes a film with no past, no present and definitely no future. This film is one of those. It has no pedigreed casting (except Raghubir Yadav and Saurabh Shukla, both of whom are wasted beyond measure), no inspired dialogues or scenes and a big lack of vision and direction. Hence a product that is just as pleasurable as a five day old cold pizza with warm beer. Ughhh!!!

That much is wrong with the film is evident 10 minutes into it, but how much of an over extended welcome it would be you just dont find out until its too late. People kept walking in and out of the auditorium with not having missed much. It was almost like watching a daily soap. But unfortunately this film tried to be cool and lost whatever homely factor that a saas-bahu saga could attach to its wannabe ass. It was almost embarrassing to watch beyond a point for the sake of humanity.

But intermission came. Or as they called it in the film terror mission. Well it truly was. Never has a cup of small masala tea refreshed my senses as the one I had today. But luxury was short lived and the bell rang to tell us it was time to watch the second half. Here I would like to mention that I went for a special press screening where organizers are polite enough to tell you that its time to stop munching and start watching. But our poor lot would have preferred anything but. Slowly the motley group made its way to a dreaded second half.

This was the moment that I felt sad about my job of watching films and reviewing them. I felt deprived of the power of the audience that can make or break a film and who have the right to say no. So as the rest of us made their way into the slowly darkening hall, I walked back two steps unsurely. Thats the moment I realized the power of a viewer and I quickly turned way. I ran and I ran till I was safe in my car. It was a moment of true freedom. I give myself full 5 stars for having had the guts to do it. Well as for this film, just never mind. Until next time.
