Verdict - It has a plot-line that is relatable AF, but drags enough to become a bore fest!

India is my country and all Indians are my brothers and sisters. This is a statement that has ruined the lives of many. The thing is simple. If all Indians are my brothers and sisters, then the entire population would be incestuous, isn't it? Definitely this is something that apparently none of us take seriously, the bro-sis part that is. Indian culture is laden with events that will turn a simple boy and girl into 'bhai-behen' in a moment. For example the raksha bandhan! And then the forced belief that all the people in the neighbourhood is our brother and sister.

Well, this is relatable AF, isn't it? The entire movie Behen Hogi Teri is built on this premise. Sounds interesting too. And with casts like Rajkummar Rao and Shruti Hassan, this has all the ingrediants to be a sure shot hit. But this movie fails miserably!

It definitely has a great plotline. But then lack of good situations or humorous punch lines or even good dialogues makes this movie a bore fest. The premise is completely destroyed with the repetitiveness which abounds in the movie. The plot is simple. Gattu is in love with the next door girl Binny. But Binny is a tough woman who would catch guys and make girls tie Rakhi on their wrist. Gattu has a tough road ahead to impresss Binny. What's more, everybody just considers him like Binny's brother, since he is just her next door neighbour. Will gattu be able to convince Binny and more over their families and unite with the crush/love that he has been nurturing since childhood?

There were ample scopes of great situational comedies. With a powerhouse like Rajkummar Rao, it would have been easy to achieve. But the plot meanders on the same line and goes out of hand after a point. Before the interval, there seems to be scope for redemption in the second half, but that too goes waste. Idiotic lines coupled with some really silly cat and mouse chases, this comedy of errors fall flat as it approaches a predictable end.

Shruti Hassan fails miserably to deliver. What makes it worse are the unnecessary close-up shots that you see throughout the movie. The supporting cast is good, but their effort too can't save the movie!

The only good thing about it is cinematography that involves the 'mohallas' of small town. It will remind you of your own 'mohalle wala pyaar' or some random Romeo-Juliets who you have seen carefully romance away from the prying eyes of their parents. The movie seems to be shot in Lucknow and given the Anti-Romeo squads everywhere, you'll wonder if Gattu could have even approached Binny now!

The music is ok. Though the songs wouldn't stay with you, except for Tera Hoke Rahoon, it does merge seamlessly with the entire narrative.

The movie is overall a lot of drag! It is drudgingly slow and you can't help but wonder why it hasn't been cut short and made crisp. You can watch the movie if you want to relive those 'mohalle mein pyaar' feeling, but overall it can definitely be avoided.
