Verdict - Great action sequences but saggy direction makes this an ok watch

    TezzWatch trailerRelease date : April 27, 2012

Tezz is as brisk as Churchgate station in the morning. People rush about, calls are made and answered, tempers get frayed and there is a buzz of in the air of something about to happen.

And there is actually, to begin with. A train with 550 people on board has a bomb planted on it which will go if the speed of the train falls below 65miles per hour. An illegal alien who has been deported from the UK leaving his peroxide blonde UK citizen wife behind has planted the bomb with the help of some illegal assistants still living there. The train will reach its destination in around ten hours which is the time that the police led by an American accented Indian British police officer have to catch the bomber and defuse the bom

Ok, simple enough stuff to give you nail biting suspense and drama. Unfortunately, the film gives you that sense of urgency only once in a while. There are too many bloopers and unexplained coincidences that mar the credibility of the action. After a while you start to feel the futility of all the chases and running around that is happening. The second half of the film peters out as if the train has run out of gas and worse does not know which station it is meant to stop at.

The main problem for me was the motivation of Ajay Devgan's character to resort to a blatant act of terrorism. Illegal aliens are deported everywhere and they don't show him as being I'll treated in captivity or anything to warrant this level of revenge or action. I guess when even the actors are not convinced of the motivation of their characters their performances lack conviction too.

Anil Kapoor as the cop looks suitably urgent but has the most confused accent. Devgan has angst written all over his face. Zaheer Khan who plays one of the accomplices looks so shifty eyed that if I were a cop I would arrest him even if he was just crossing a street.Sameera Reddy is impressive in a short action packed role and Kangana has nothing to do. Boman Irani as the head of Traffic Control whose daughter is also onthe train is superb. But the acting honours go to Mohanlal as the cop on the train. His is just cameo role but he brings so much truth to it, it's a joy to watch him.

There are a couple of great car, boat, foot chases but they look like set pieces meant to provide the action in the movie rather than being anintegral part of it. This train derails much before the end. I would not recommend it except to see Mohanlal.
