Jigarthanda (Chikkadu Dorakadu)is an action movie directed by Karthik Subburaj and stars Siddharthin the lead role

“Karthik Subburaj scores again! Jigarthanda is truly an unconventional film with the right blend of suspense, action, and comedy. With fantastic performances, especially Bobby Simha's, and a great story, the film shouldn't be missed!”

Jigarthanda, the cold-hearted film, has a softly pinched narration. With a couple of minutes left for the 3rd hour, the film's end credits show up.

There are two protagonists, Bobby Simha and Siddharth, and one special appearance played by Lakshmi Menon. Though she is the lead, she appears like street lights, few and far. Captioned 'A Musical Gangster Story', this film has the punches, not in dialogues, but in the vein of the film. Karthik (Siddharth), a short filmmaker is thrilled at the offer of making a feature film in Jigarthanda. He goes to Madurai to learn about Sethu's (Simha) life. How Sethu and Siddharth become friends, then enemies, then buddies is the story.

There are two other heroes of the Madurai thriller (less thrilling, thrilling nevertheless), Gavemic U. Ary, the cinematographer and Santhosh Narayanan, the composer. Well, Santhosh Narayanan has been receiving great reviews for his music. This film too won't let you down in that department. Gavemic's talent shows throughout the film, in certain scenes, he is the true hero.

The film runs slow, it's like this hard nut, takes to time to crack but you'll enjoy it however. Songs are better to listen to; they give a better understanding of the mood - on the screen, they aren't grand.

The film would have been a 'jigar-less thanda' if not for the climax. Karthik Subbaraj pays homage to Thalapathi and Alfred Hitchcock. Nice.

Oh, the director's getting there; he goes up with his second film, taking his team with him.
